Prospective graduate studentsAll prospective applicants with a good research fit are encouraged to apply, and prospective applicants who are also underrepresented in psychological science are especially encouraged to apply. For more information about how to apply to the clinical psychology Ph.D. program, please click here.
Although not necessary, eligible applicants may also be interested to consider applying for supplemental university fellowships such as the Carson Carr fellowship, the Graduate Opportunity Program and/or the presidential doctoral fellowship for research training in minority health disparities through the Center for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities. Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate research assistantshipsWe are always interested in recruiting enthusiastic and responsible undergraduate research assistants who are interested to gain research experience in psychology!
Research Assistant Responsibilities
Research responsibilities may include helping to run research participants, coding audio files for specific themes, collecting and scoring psychophysiological data (i.e., heart rate, respiration, micro-palm sweat), participant recruitment, data management, and assistance with other basic lab operations. There may also be opportunities for motivated students to initiate their own research projects. Minimum Requirements Given the amount of time that goes into training RA's, we ask that all RA's make a minimum 6 hour/week, 2 semester commitment. Further, because most of the research assistantship tasks require that RA's are available during regular business hours, we require that RA's can commit to set aside at least 2 blocks of 3 hours/week. Students must also have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. Coursework in research methods is recommended, but not required. Why Volunteer? Undergraduates can receive up to three course credits for APSY237 or APSY337 if desired. All research assistants will also have opportunities to learn more about the research process, related research, and professional development during monthly lab meetings with Dr. Lin and graduate research assistants. Research assistants interested are also encouraged to seek out Dr. Lin and graduate research assistants for mentorship about career opportunities in psychology, applications to higher education programs, and other topics of interest. |
